More than 80 per cent of the torture states in the world recieves military support from the U.S. Government. The same George W. Bush who advocates bombing Iraq to "bring democracy", is supporting at least 79 regimes which practice torture according to Amnesty Internationals latest yearly report.

If the U.S. Government would be seriously interested in democracy and human rights, there would be a much easier mean to push for this than starting wars: to withdraw military aid from these 79 regimes.

If, on the other hand, the U.S. Government is more interested in supporting U.S. oil corporations than human rights, the current White House policy is very logical.
